The 2004 growing season started very early in the Spring and included a cool, steady ripening period in the Fall. It ended with a very early harvest of extremely low yields resulting in exceptional concentration of the fruit. Pandemonium reigned for a brief time as Rose and Grace returned to school as the first grapes were picked.

This lovely wine is dark crimson in color with enticing aromas of dusty plums, wild cherries and candied violets. Its flavors are rich with red currants and cherries, hints of cassis, cocoa and nutmeg. Soft, supple tannins and a luscious mouth-feel complement its firm structure and moderate alcohol. With both power and elegance, it promises many years of enjoyment.

Dark garnet in the glass, this wine smells of black cherry and black plum. Cherry, plum, and graphite dominate the supple, gorgeous body of the wine. Notes of lavender and dried flowers linger in the finish with a bright, juicy citrusy quality that is deeply satisfying. Long and rich, yet bright and lithe at the same time. Fabulous. 13.6% alcohol. (a moderate 13.6% alcohol): Healthy full medium ruby. Very primary aromas of blackberry, violet, bitter chocolate, licorice, wild herbs and spicecake. Juicy and intense, offering excellent energy and lift to its tightly wound dark berry flavors. Not a fleshy style--in fact a touch herbal--but boasts lovely verve and excellent subtle length. If the 2005 and 2006 are all earth and meat and darkness, this wine is radiant, aglow with a glorious, warm plum skin fragrance and a perfume like multi-colored petals. The texture is fine-grained and the acid is profound. Beneath this effervescence, though, is a kind of woodsy sweetness. This wine's nose shows black cherry, cola and baking spice amid toast and sweet vanilla. There's mineral, red fruit and grippy black flavors on the palate.
