Cathy's Tasting Notes Upon Release:
We are fortunate to enjoy yet another great vintage in a long string.  The ripening season was unusually cool, extending the grapes’ time on the vine which allowed the development of remarkable concentration.  First impressions from the inky, purple color follow-through with jammy plum and blackberry flavors.  This juicy fruit combines with cinnamon and chocolate notes for added dimension.  The structure exhibits the customary Corison softness, with supple tannins.  French oak barrel aging adds further integrated complexity.  ~ Cathy Corison

Cathy's Notes from 25 Vintage Retrospective Tasting, October 2014:
Dark red. Dust. Brooding. Cola, cassis, plums, tar aromas complexed with cedar cigar box and incense. Youthful, Dark jammy fruit graphite notes. Nice tannic grip. Drink or hold.

Wine Spectator Cellar Selection
92 pts.  Bold, ripe, rich and concentrated, with layers of plum and currant flavors, accented by anise, toasty oak and tobacco character.  Finished firmly tannic, long and full.  Try in 1998 or later.                                                                                                                                                                                           November 30, 1995

California Grapevine
Medium-dark ruby; attractive, rich, cedary, spicy, ripe plum, berry fruit aroma; full body; intense, concentrated, cedary, tarrish, rich berry fruit flavors with a firm backbone; medium-full to full tannin... lingering aftertaste... Highly recommended.                                                                                        October-November 1995

Daniel Johnnes's Top 200 Wines, p. 188
"This wine is maybe her best to date.  It has a saturated ruby robe and an aroma of ripe black plums, cassis, and spice.  On the palate it has deep flavors of ripe fruit, soft texture, and a long, layered, complex finish."

American Wine on the Web
Highly Recommended  "... this is our Purple Powerhouse of the Month.  Buy two... one to try in 1996 and one for 2006, because this cab will get gorgeous!"

John Winthrop Haeger
Very transparent, red-centered, orange-rimmed robe; black pepper, summer savory and red vermouth on the nose; blackberry, cassis and even cranberry on the palate; astonishingly lively, bright and youthful impression; light and lithe on the long, linear, elegant and almost pinot-esque finish.  Exceptional and exciting.   This bottle differs markedly from the wine I last tasted in 2011; the tannins have resolved into silky elegance, and the wine seems livelier and younger now.           Tasted 12/2016

John Winthrop Haeger
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1992 (Corison) - Transparent, deeply-tinted brick red; cigar box, incense and hint of hard spice on the nose; cassis, plum and pencil lead on the palate, plus a rich load of very fine grained tannins; impressions of concentration and intensity; more reminiscent of St-Estephe than Margaux; dry, no longer fruit-driven but very long to finish; less bright than some vintages of Corison, but still very elegant.  Serious wine, possibly near its apogee, but in no way past prime time.                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Tasted 5/2011
