Three-bottle boxed set including one bottle each of the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Corison Kronos Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.

Budbreak came very late in 2006 due to cold, rainy weather that continued well into spring. By early June, the sun finally came out and the vines began to bloom and set fruit. Even, cool weather from August through a very late harvest for a nearly perfect ripening season. Layered aromas of ripe blackberries, black cherries, plum compote, cassis and cedar are made even more complex by chocolate, nutmeg, and peppermint notes. The juicy fruit aromas follow through in the flavors. The texture is velvet. Classic.

The 2007 is one of my favorite Kronos Cabernets to date. Spicy aromas integrate with dark, brooding black cherry, boysenberry and cassis fruit. I love the prominent mineral note in the aromas and the signature viscosity and velvety tannins make it lush. All this at moderate alcohol!

The 2008 wine exhibits a wonderful yin and yang of juicy approachability and firm, classic structure. The cool ripening season resulted in a vast range of fruit flavors, all the way from bright black cherry and blueberry through plums and cassis to blackberries and boysenberries. Hints of chocolate peek around the corner and spicy notes of anise, nutmeg and cardamom add to a lovely perfume of dried roses for astonishing complexity. The signature round, silky Kronos mouth feel completes the package.Cathy Corison

17.5   Ruby-black core reaches ruby along its edges.  Star bright in the glass.  Aromatics of red and black fruits accented with gunpowder carry forward into the palate with hints of cocoa, cigar box, and cedar.  Fine-grained tannin carried by mouthwatering acidity into an ultra-long finish.  There is plenty of presence here and the wine is only just beginning to open to show its complexity and range of flavours.  It still has plenty of ageing left to do in bottle.  If opened now, it will benefit by being enjoyed with food.  Drink 2018-2033Elaine Chukan Brown, 12 Mar 2019Napa Valley Then & Now
Supple and seductive, the 2006 Kronos is richly textured and silken.  Highly aromatic, the wine offers scents of blackberry compote, birch bark, smoked meat, slate, and a touch of mint.  Dark and inky, with a muscular structure.Kelli White, November 2015Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine
* Corison Cabernets are typically deep and layered wines wherein structure and balance are emphasized over ripeness, and this firmly built, claret-like offering does just that. It is a polished and manicured wine of keen definition and sports plenty of curranty fruit and fine oak. It tightens and stiffens as it runs up against a slight bit of acidy stiffness just now, but we very much like its chances to age into better and recommend a wait of some four or five years.December 20102007

97  Medium garnet colored, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Kronos Vineyard leaps from the glass with mature, beautifully expressive baking spice and incense notions with a core of mincemeat pie, potpourri, preserved plums and dried mulberries plus a waft of fragrant earth.  Medium-bodied, the palate possesses compelling harmony and plenty of subtext with layer upon layer of spice and perfumed black fruit preserves, finishing with great length and depth.  Drink Date 2018-2035Lisa Perrotti-Brown, 31st Aug 2018JancisRobinson.com17.5  Ruby-black core with a bit more transparency than the densest vintages. Star bright in the glass. Aromatics lift from the glass with lovely subtlety and a mix of floral, fruit and earth notes. The gunpowder, iron elements common to the site certainly show here. Fruits offer a mix of cherries with firm, fresh, mixed currants as well. Plenty of flavour on the palate with earthy and cedar notes. Fine-grained tannin housed in mouth-watering acidity together carry into an ultra-long finish with a cashmere mouthfeel. There is something luxurious to this wine – it is pretty, and very slightly lush, while still carrying firm fruits and earthy depth. There is certainly less structural intensity than in a vintage like the 2001 or 1999 but the structure here is fine-grained, finessed and persistent. With air it begins to show some ultra-dark chocolate notes. Quite a lovely wine. 13.8%  Drink 2018-2035Elaine Chukan Brown for, 3/12/19

The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Kronos Vineyard is made in a richer, riper style that shows more inner perfume and mid-palate expressiveness than the Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. Blackberries, flowers, spices and licorice are some of the notes that wrap around the sensual, inviting finish. The 2008 Kronos shows lovely delineation and pure, understated class. Sweet red cherries, kirsch and flowers add lift on the close. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. I was quite taken with the two Cabernets I tasted from Cathy Corison. These aren’t the biggest or most obvious wines being made in the valley, but readers who are willing to spend some time getting to know these refined Cabernets will be amply rewarded.Antonio Galloni, December 2011Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine

Wonderfully complex and very deep in pure Cabernet fruit with lovely adjuncts of sweet oak, cocoa and subtle wisps of forest-floor spice, the new Kronos bottling is an impeccably balanced offering that proves that composure and richness are in no way mutually exclusive. It is so refined and its pieces so carefully knit that it runs the risk of being drunk up before it has had the half-dozen-plus years of aging that it will need before coming into its very best.Reviewed: December 2012
